NOT THE USUAL OVERNIGHT BAG!

A cowboy or a rodeo star needed a
specialized satchel to carry his rope
which was a necessary part of his
trade. A rope needed to be handy,
and dry and ready to use. This
beautiful embossed Rope satchel
was the property of Rodeo
Champion Roy Cooper and
can be seen at the Territorial
Capital Sports Museum in
Historic Guthrie OK!
EVEN A PHARMACIST
NEEDS A SADDLE BAG!

This unusual saddle bag was
used to transport drugs and
medicines during the early days
when the Unassigned Lands
were opened for settlement.
Many people lived on the plains
far from cities and a pharmacist
or doctor had to ride great
distances to serve his patients.
A sturdy safe way to carry drugs
was essential.

This bag may be seen at the
Oklahoma Frontier Drugstore
Museum in Guthrie.
