Oklahoma Ave. Guthrie, OT June 20, 1889
On April 22, 1889 The Unassigned Lands were opened for settlement by
President Benjamin Harrison. Harrison's Hoss Race as it was called
turned the empty valley south of the Cimarron River into a town of
10,000 people overnight. Doctors and pharmacists, lawyers and sign
makers braved the spring weather and built Guthrie from the ground up!
